Peta Lindsay and Yari Osorio who are currently running as the presidential ticket of the Party for Socialism and Liberation joined us this week along with fellow PSL member Eugene Puryear. Among the many reasons why this was an important discussion is that this campaign is the only openly anti-capitalist one among those championed as the “alternatives” to the Democrat and Republican parties. The historic nature of this campaign being lead by a Black woman and a Latin American man is given added depth by the politics they represent – an aggressive call for a Socialist revolution. Hear what potential there really is in voting and political leadership and say no more to coerced votes of fear; vote for the world you want and not simply against the world you are afraid of that comes in that case anyway.

I thought the program was very informative, and that many people needed to hear it. A pet peeve of mine is when informed revolutionaries use terms like “individual” when they should know the destructive implications of the use of that word. I won’t go into it except to say that it is the use of that illusionary concept that is the basis of capitalism.
Another word that was used was “our”, as in “our country”. I have a problem when progressives make the mistake of using this reference without mentioning the indigenous people (Indians) that are the only ones who have a legitimate claim to this territory. How can you talk about transgression in this country without mentioning them? This goes for American-Africans as well. THINK ABOUT IT!
Good program!
