Dr. William Sales, author of From Civil Rights to Black Liberation: Malcolm X and the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU), joined us this morning.  We discussed his thoughts on Malcolm X, the OAAU and the political direction in which he saw Malcolm going, as well as, discrepancies between the versions of Malcolm X held by Sales and Manning Marable.  We also aired the recent comments on Marable’s book offered by Dr. Rosemari Mealy whose powerful views of Malcolm X from that of a Black Nationalist freedom fighter womanist are often ignored.  All this plus some musical tribute to Gil Scott-Heron and Geronimo Ji-Jagga Pratt and more in this week’s show.

NOTE: Don’t miss our upcoming I MiX What I Like Book Launch Party! June 9, 2011! Check HERE for details! And if you can’t make that one check HERE for other upcoming book-related events! All proceeds from I MiX What I Like! A MiXtape Manifesto go to support political prisoners!

Peace, Thank you brother Jared for having brother William Sales on the show. I totally agree,(From Civil Rights to Black Liberation: Malcolm X and the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU)by brother Sales is a classic on Malcolm’s political thought and development of the OAAU. I encourage all to pick up the book.
