Just to catch up a little bit we have today’s edition of The Super Funky Soul Power Hour which was a pledge-drive special semi-Hate Awards show. Dhoruba bin-Wahad was with us and focussed our discussion on the absence of Black radical and nationalist thought and organization and in some ways extended his talk from last night’s event itself a discussion of the assassination of Malcolm X. Drs. H8 and Burroughs were also with us as was our sister poet in-residence Laini Mataka. We also have some of the audio from the event last night, notably the closing comments of bin-Wahad and the people’s representative Cynthia McKinney. Thanks to John Judge and COPA (The Coalition on Political Assassinations) for convening the gathering and as soon as more audio and video from the event are made available we will certainly pass it all along.

Enjoyed the program. Is their video or audio of the COPA conference at Howard? Please give up the title & author of the book on assassinations that you mentioned during your comments at the conference. Had the opportunity to see Dhoruba talk at the Third Eye conference in Dallas in ’91. To further what Brother Dhoruba said on Dorner,an FBI psychologist said if Dorner was serious he would have never identified himself.
Walter, thanks. The book is Assassinations by Jim DeEugenio and Lisa Pearse, 2003 I believe. And yes, word is the COPA website will eventually have full video.
When the root causes for the critical issues facing Afrikan Americans today are analyzed the FBI’s War on the Black Liberation Movement is often overlooked, thus the critical necessity of the comments by Sister McKinney and Brother Dhoruba.
As regards the “political anti-Christ,” and the “politics of self-abnegation” we must admit that the neo-colonial plan envisioned by the John and Robert Kennedy (emphasis on electoral politics vs direct social action) has been successful beyond their wildest imaginations.
In 1965 when the Voting Rights Act was passed 75 percent of Afrikan American children were being raised in a two-parent family. In 2012 when Barack Obama was reelected 72 percent of Afrikan American children were being raised in a single-parent family. One of the most critical errors of Afrikan American leadership since 1965 has been placing a disproportionate emphasis on electoral politics (as if holding office is tantamount to holding power) at the expense of an emphasis on economic, educational, and cultural development.

Here is a longer version of the discussion between Dhoruba Bin-Wahad and Keith Ellison.
Thanks for this!
On second thought after getting a chance to watch it… although it was entertaining, the whole scenery was like watching a reenactment of that Mandingo fight in Django. Not sure what was gained from this other than a conversation and some old dance moves in disunity.
