The Unity Center of Rhode Island College hosted this presentation and Q&A as part of their Black History Month tribute.  The presentation, though focussed on Black America and mass media, took its inspiration from a discussion recounted by Frank Wilderson in his book Incognegro: A Memoir of Exile and Apartheid.  From there a form of Frantz Fanon’s theory of colonialism was applied in order to define the function of mass media as “psychic violence.”
