Following the recent protests over the removal of faculty and staff at the University of Maryland at College Park a panel was convened this evening at the university’s Nyumburu Cultural Center.  The gathering, which featured one of the targeted himself, Dr.Cordell Black, Assoc. Provost of Diversity and Equity, discussed with members of the community the immediate challenges faced by those on campus and also how these tensions are the same faced on other college campuses and connected to broader global political, economic and social issues.  Other panelists included Solomon Commisong, Assistant Director of Student Involvement at the Nyumburu Cultural Center; Aisha Braveboy, MD State Delegate; Angel Miles, Graduate Student and Professor of Women’s Studies and Jared Ball, Professor of Communication Studies at Morgan State University.
