Having done some digital crate-digging during what is now the 40th anniversary of the institutionalization of Black Studies within the U.S. academy we have unearthed a classic recitation on the life, and cultural/political lineage of Dr. John Henrik Clarke.  This deeply revealing and detailed tribute presented by Dr. Greg Carr during the 1998 Mid-Atlantic Regional meeting of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (ASCAC) remains an invaluable reservoir of, as Clarke has said, the history “whose relationship to a people is that of a mother to her child.”

Dr Carr is a Professor at Howard University, doing wonderful things with students there. When ever he speaks he brings a wealth of insight, information and wisdom from a African centered prospective. The legacy of Dr Clarke is being well preserved and carried forward by this very active and dedicated Warrior/Scholar. I look forward to your bringing us more, such as this. Hotep!
