I MiX What I Like! has come into possession of a prison document officially banning the autobiography of Marshall “Eddie” Conway. The book in question is the recent release from AK Press, Marshall Law: The Life & Times of a Baltimore Black Panther Marshall “Eddie” Conway, co-authored by Dominque Stevenson a prison activist who works with the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). According to the document the book has been banned “Effective immediately” due to “security reasons”. The document is signed by the acting warden of the Maryland Correctional Training Center Wayne Webb and threatens that any copies of the book ordered by inmates will be “confiscated and disposed of…” Below you can see/download a copy of the letter – which we encourage be distributed widely – and hear our April 29, 2011 interview with Conway and Stevenson where we discussed their book, the history it covers and its potential impact in the world some of which may have been behind this recent decision by prison authorities.
